Tennis Unlimited follows the familiar club and tournament rules used worldwide. This is a practical summary for scoring matches on court — not a substitute for the full ITF Rules of Tennis.
A game is won by the first player to win at least four points, with a margin of two. Point scores are Love (0), 15, 30, and 40. At 40–40 the score is Deuce; a player must then win by two clear points (Advantage, then game), unless no-ad scoring is used.
A standard set is won by the first player to win at least six games, with a margin of two. At 6–6 a tiebreak is usually played. Matches are typically best of three or best of five sets.
In a standard set tiebreak, the first player to seven points wins, provided they lead by two. Players alternate serves, starting with one serve, then two serves each.
Some formats use a match tiebreak (often to 10) in place of a full final set. Tennis Unlimited can score both styles.
The server starts each game from the deuce (right) court, then alternates sides after every point. A fault on first serve allows a second serve; a second fault is a double fault and the point goes to the receiver.
In doubles, partners alternate games on serve. Who receives first on each side is agreed at the start of the set and stays fixed for that set.
With no-ad scoring, the first player to win four points wins the game — even from deuce. At deuce, the next point decides the game (often called sudden death).
Clubs and events choose no-ad to keep matches shorter. It is common in recreational leagues and some team competitions.
Competitive play is usually split into men’s and ladies’ singles and doubles, plus mixed doubles. Clubs may also offer a divers section, or allow divers into open categories by club policy.
Friendly matches can mix any players for live scoring only and do not change saved club statistics in Tennis Unlimited. Club ladders use competitive categories only.
Players call lines on their side of the court in recreational play unless an official is present. Disputed calls should be replayed when players cannot agree.
Respect opponents, partners, and the court. Coaching during points is restricted in formal competition; club events set their own house rules.
